What’s wrong with this quote?
“God says it. I believe it. That settles it [for me].”
What’s wrong with that saying? (Something’s seriously wrong… what is it?)
Think about this one for a bit… the answer is in the comments.
The problem is that it implies that it’s not settled until one believes; in other words, that the authority of Scripture has to be ratified by the individual before it is legitimate.
Saying “God says it. That settles it.” is legitimate as it leaves the final authority with God. If it’s not final until man believes it, then man ultimately becomes the authoritative voice — and that is unacceptable.
