This summer I have consistently received a signal carrying “American Voice Radio” on 99.7 FM when driving in Madison County, Illinois. On I-270 this signal comes in between about miles 5 and 10. It also comes in north of I-270 to south of New Poag Road on IL 255. North and east of there, 99.7 is WXAJ Hillsboro/Springfield. West of mile 5 and even as far as the Chain of Rocks Bridge, the signal is sometimes still audible but WXAJ tends to be more dominant.
Since there are no 99.7 licenses in use in Madison County, and this is not known pirate station “SouthCityRadio” in south STL, it seems likely there’s another pirate transmission somewhere in this area.
